Cheap weekly car hire in Torremolinos & book accommodation and excursions in advance
During the summer months, we would recommend booking accommodation and excursions in advance. Personally, we don't like arriving in a new city without an overnight stay. We would rather spend time exploring the city and relaxing.
Weather and road conditions
In summer, the average temperature in Andalusia is 36°C (97°F). These scorching temperatures are not ideal for exploring the cities, but April and May, September and October are great months to visit Andalusia.
The roads are really great, but the city streets, especially in the smaller towns or historic districts, can be very narrow: hence the need to buy insurance on your rental car.
Insurance and hidden costs when renting a car in Torremolinos for a week
There is one thing to be wary of — car insurance. When our customers come to car rental companies, they are offered many hidden costs in their contracts.
We decided that standard coverage would be enough, but most campaigns force customers to take expensive extra insurance on top of the standard all-inclusive coverage.
We then spoke to friends who had also encountered this in other cities in Spain. Apparently this is a common scenario, so the advice is to only rent cars that have all-inclusive insurance.
There's one other insurance you'll definitely want to get, and that's over-insurance. And it's justified. Having driven and parked in Spain, we know that scratches or dents are very easy to get in narrow historic streets or underground car parks.
Try to use an automatic gearbox
On Andalusia's narrow and often steep streets, you'll be thankful you don't have to shift gears manually.
